Don't see your question here? Email us at nolimitsmartialartsandfitness@gmail.com and we'll get back to you personally.
Q: Do I need any experience to start?
Not at all. Everyone begins at No Belt regardless of age or background. We will meet you exactly where you are.
Q: How much does it cost?
Our suggested donation is $75 per month for two classes per week at our home dojang. We operate on a sliding scale — if that amount is not accessible to you, please reach out. We will never turn a student away for inability to pay. Mobile and private instruction is priced on a case-by-case basis. Testing is a suggested donation of $25 for color belts and $150 for black belt.
Q: Do you offer classes for children?
We welcome students of all ages, including younger students who are ready to commit to traditional training. However, we do not offer a separate children's curriculum, children's-only classes, birthday parties, or summer camp programs. Every student trains the same traditional curriculum with the same expectations. If a young person can bow in, focus, and respect their fellow students, they have a home here.
Q: Where are you located?
We currently offer training at our home dojang and through mobile and private instruction — we come to you. We are actively working toward establishing a permanent dojang in the Richmond, Virginia area. Contact us to discuss training options near you.
Q: How long does it take to get a black belt?
At No Limits, the path from beginner to black belt typically takes several years of consistent, dedicated training. Belts are earned through demonstrated skill, knowledge, character, and time — not through a fixed schedule. We do not award belts on a timeline; we award them when a student has truly earned them.
Q: How does testing work?
Tests are held the first Saturday of every month. Before testing, every student goes through a pre-test with an instructor to confirm they are ready. Here's what that means in practice: if we tell you that you're ready to test, you've already earned the belt. The official test is a celebration, not a trap. We would never put you in front of an audience unprepared.
Q: What style of Taekwondo do you teach?
We teach a combined curriculum drawing from both the WTF/Kukkiwon and ITF traditions, honoring the full depth and history of the art. Students learn forms, sparring, self-defense, breaking, and the philosophy and history of Taekwondo.
Q: Is this a nonprofit?
Yes. No Limits Martial Arts & Fitness is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to make traditional martial arts accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstance. Donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
